The history of Udaya Province is the history of the grace overflowed to us from the bountiful mercy of the Queen of Rosary. Our story begins at Irinjalakuda, with the new born region from Thrissur Nirmala Province on 13th June 1976 and was declared a Province in 1977. Mother Mary Clemence was appointed as Regional Superior and later she was elected as Provincial Superior. I9th May 1977 witnessed the formal inauguration and blessing ceremony of our Province by Mar. Joseph Kundukulam, Bishop of Thrissur. When the Eparchy of Irinjalakuda was erected by bifurcating ancient Eparchy of Thrissur in 1978 and Mar James Pazhayattil nominated as the first Bishop , this Province came under the jurisdiction of Syro Malabar Diocese of Irinjalakuda . The Eparchy of Irinjalakuda is both historically and geographically important since it contains Azhikode Kodungallore , where St.Thomas the Apostle first landed in our country . It is remarkable that Bl. Mother Euphrasia , native of Kattoor hail from the parish at Edathuruthy in this Diocese . We bow our heads in homage to Blessed Euphrasia, a gem of Carmel , whose residence , formation house and first convent in Ambazhakkad belong to this Province. The visionary zeal and spirit of the perseverance of our forerunners especially our provincial superiors - Mother Mary Clemence, Mother Aurea, Mother Osmund, Mother Janet, Mother Brice and Mother Josrita and their team have been striving hard to protect, nurture and build on the farsighted vision of our founding fathers . Now Mother Rose Mary and her team is render their services as means of inspiration and guiding the members of Udaya to become instrumental in spreading the kingdom of God .
At present the Province has 380 sisters , 27 convents and 7 residences. Moreover we have 3 old age homes 4 Oraphenges , 3 working womens Hostels ,2 student Hostels, 4 social centres and 1 printing Press in the province .Catering the needs of time ,substantial contributions have been taking place in the Catholic church for the upliftment of the weak and down trodden sections of society especially the women and children with selfless service and leadership of the members of Udaya Province. In view of the Evangelisation and spreading of the Good News the daughters of Udaya family are serving in different parts of the world .
By the grace of God the members of Udaya continue to bloom and bear the fruits during the last 37 years of its existence . As we trace our history, our patroness Mother Mary - the Morning star guided and walked along with us step by step till this time . Nothing would have been possible to Udaya without her constant grace and intercession .
